Atos opens new Security Operations Centre in Sofia, Bulgaria

Sofia, Bulgaria: Atos – a France-based IT group, opened a new Security Operations Centre (SOC) in the capital city of Bulgaria – Sofia. This new security centre has been opened as a part of the company’s continuous evolution of cybersecurity activities, as well as to put a halt on cybercrime. The announcement was made by Atos officials on Tuesday, March 22. 

In the newly opened centre, the IT group plans to hire more than fifty (50) cybersecurity professionals in the ongoing year only. So far, there are already 1,500 employees who are working for Atos in Bulgaria, as per the information shared by the IT group’s authorities in a media release.  

Debora Apostolova – the communications expert at Atos Bulgaria Competency Center, in conversation with a media house, stated, “The investment is mainly in hiring over 300 experts to work in the centre in the next couple of years and expanding its capacity”.  

The IT group further adds, “Atos intends to meet the sovereignty needs of public and private organisations, notably those operating in critical and sensitive industries, by offering them an additional AI and ML-powered SOC located in Central Europe, in addition to those in Croatia, Poland and Romania”.  

Meanwhile, on the new opening of a centre, Chris Moret – the senior vice president and global head of cybersecurity services at Atos, asserted, “As the demand increases of Europe-based clients, including Bulgaria, it was quite natural to extend our services by opening a new SOC, situated in the capital city of Bulgaria, where our firm is already having a “robust” team of digital transformation experts”. 

The press release statement of Atos further adds that the IT group’s global network of SOCs processes 31 billion security events each day.
