Bulgaria: PM Petkov meets several leaders on sideline of GLOBSEC summit

Sofia, Bulgaria: The Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Kiril Petkov, yesterday, June 2, met with the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine – Olga Stefanishyna. During the meeting, both dignitaries affirmed the diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Providing information about the meeting, the Prime Minister tweeted, “Glad to meet with Olga Stefanishyna during GLOBSEC. I have reconfirmed Bulgaria’s support for Ukraine in its right to sovereignly determine its future and for its European path, which will be discussed during the next EUCO”.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the GLOBSEC summit, during which the Bulgarian Prime Minister also met with other leaders of different countries.

Meeting with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya – the national leader of Belarus, Prime Minister Petkov tweeted, “Discussed with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya the situation in Belarus in this critical period for the security of the region expressed my concerns over the violation of fundamental freedom & reaffirmed Bulgaria’s support to the aspirations of the people for democracy based on human rights and the rule of law”.

The Balkan state’s leader also met with the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic – Eduard Heger, and discussions were held on several significant matters, including coordination at the EU level to tackle the volatility of energy prices.

“Pleased to meet Slovak PM Eduard Heger and exchange on regional and EU issues. We agreed that we need coordination at the EU level to tackle volatility of energy prices as well as to expand the reach of the European Prosecutor’s Office”, underscored the Prime Minister of Bulgaria.

These meetings hold great importance for Bulgaria. PM Petkov went to attend the summit of the GLOBSEC.
