Castries, Saint Lucia: Philip J. Pierre, Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, wished everyone a happy tourism day. September 27 is recognized as World Tourism Day every year to celebrate, promote, and understand the significance of tourism in various parts of the world.

The day was initiated by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) in 1946. The day encourages people to explore the wonders and specialities of other regions.

As Saint Lucia’s economy primarily depends on tourism, PM Philip J. Pierre appreciated all the individuals who contributed to the economic growth by managing the tourism industry of Saint Lucia.

Every year, numerous tourists from different regions of the world visit the Helen of the West Indies to explore its beauty and spend their holidays witnessing the natural and structural wonders of the island nation.

Through his official Facebook account, PM J. Pierre wrote, “I want to wish all the persons who contribute to the economic growth and the management and performance of the tourism industry A Happy World Tourism Day”.

The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia also shared the plans his administration will embark on in the Tourism Industry, including the approval of 35 projects for tourism incentives.

He emphasizes that Saint Lucia must build a sustainable and resilient tourism industry by creating a framework that facilitates the growth of the industry and participation and ownership by Saint Lucians.

On the occasion of World Tourism Day, PM J. Pierre expressed his gratitude towards the individuals involved in the country’s Tourism sector.

He mentioned that with the efforts made by hardworking Saint Lucians, the country’s tourism sector is growing every year, bringing tourists and investors from different corners of the world.
