On September 21, the Sofia Municipality started the construction of a new multifunctional sports hall at 56 SU in the Lyulin district. Both students and residents of the neighbourhood can use the hall.

She appreciated the mayor of the region, Mr. Milko Mladenov, who made efforts to protect the funding and Sofia’s chief architect Arch—Zdravkov, who made projects for five school gyms.

The Mayor of Sofia, Miss Yordanka Fandakova, emphasized that the Municipality has recently built 18 new school gyms. Construction begins on the 19th in 100 elementary schools in the Serdika region.

94 more kindergarten gyms and 15 new swimming pools were also constructed during this period, and 52 gyms and 12 school swimming pools have been renovated.

Additionally, two new elephants have become part of the Sofia Zoo. Mayor Fandakova remarked that the Sofia Zoo has a long tradition of raising Indian elephants since its establishment 135 years ago.

Elephants Louise and Frosia come from the Zoo in Augsburg, Germany. They arrived on September 20, 2023, in Sofia. They are housed in the refurbished enclosures of the Giants Hall and will be introduced to visitors once they get used to their new home.

She thanked the Zam team, the Mayor of Ecology, Mrs. Bileva, the Director of the Zoo, Mr. Borislavov, the Emergency Department, which assisted with the transport, as well as partners from the Augsburg Zoo and Ambassador in Germany N. Pr. Elena Shekerletova for the elephants delivered in Sofia Zoo.

On September 18, 2023, three new transport lines were added to the metro in the district. “Mountain Bath”. The three lines have a starting common stop on the street—Lotus, where they make a connection with the Gorna Banya metro station.

The first supply line serving the district “Monastery Meadows – East”, district “Monastery Meadows – West”, and district Pavlovo has been operating for several months and is beginning to be used by more and more citizens.

Within a few days, the mobile application the Sofia Municipality launched with the first leading line will be updated with information on all three new lines.
