During the last 24 hours, a total of 242 new cases of the novel coronavirus have been recorded by the healthcare facilities of Bulgaria, as per the data shared in the unified information portal of May 2, 2022. This brings the overall toll of the active COVID-19 infections to 141,759.

These additional COVID-19 tests have been recorded of the total of 2,723 tests conducted in the last 24 hours in the European country. The positivity rate of these new novel coronavirus infections stands at 8.89%, the portal’s data further adds.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been a total of 1,156,971 Bulgarian nationals who contracted the viral illness. The last day also witnessed the recovery of 149 COVID-19 patients, bringing the overall count of the coronavirus related recoveries to 978,294 as of today.

Along with this, a total of five (5) additional COVID-19 deaths have been reported in the last day. This takes the total number of the COVID-19 related fatalities in the Balkan state to 36,918.

For the present time, there are a total of 866 COVID-19 patients who are in the hospital facilities, including the recently admitted twenty-four (24) patients with the viral disease. Meanwhile, a total of eighty-one (81) COVID-19 patients are in intensive care units – ICU.

Till May 1, 2022, there are a total of 2,055,832 individuals who have received their recommended number of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines and are in the category of fully vaccinated individuals, epresenting around 29.7% of the total targeted eligible population of the European country.

On the other end, there are a total of 746,850 Bulgarian nationals who are fully vaccinated and have also taken their booster shots or third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This number of individuals represents nearly 10.8% of the total targeted eligible population, as per the official data present.
