According to the data collected from 86 samples taken from COVID-19 patients in Bulgaria, the BA.5 lineage of the Omicron virus and its sub-variants continues to dominate the country and its several provinces. The National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCIPD) has conducted tests on the samples collected from infected patients
Detected from the additional 4,578 COVID-19 tests conducted by the healthcare staff at the testing sites. Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, a total of 10,098,967 tests have been conducted throughout the country.
Along with these cases, during the last 24 hours, a total of eight (8) COVID patients lost their lives to the deadliest mutant. This brings the overall death rate of Bulgaria to 37,204.
These samples have been taken from the COVID-19 patients during the time period of May 2 to May 17, 2022, NCIPD further stated, and were taken from 20 districts out of 28.
These new cases have been traced out of the additional 4140 COVID tests conducted at the testing sites all across Bulgaria on June 7. Therefore, the positivity rate of the new COVID-19 infections computes for nearly 4%.
The positivity rate of the fresh COVID infections computes for around 3.3%. Meanwhile, the total active COVID cases toll has now increased to 74,319, whereas the total number of confirmed cases has reached to 1,165,167 since the beginning of the pandemic.
These cases take the total count of the total COVID active cases in Bulgaria to 76,901, which has decreased by a significant number as compared to the report of May 28, 2022, the data further adds.
