For the first time in China, protests reached such a high level in a single night following the Xinjiang fire event, which led to the deaths of 10 people because they could not flee the blaze due to a complete lockdown across the nation. To support XI Jinping’s Zero COVID policy, the authorities welded steel rods to the apartment exits and sealed them.

The main reason behind their demise was the inability to escape the apartment due to this policy. In addition, emergency services were delayed due to Covid limitations that were in place all over the nation.

Chinese residents protested against President XI Jinping’s “Zero Covid” programme in different Chinese provinces. Specifically, Wuhan, Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong saw the most protests. Social media posts that depict police abuses against Chinese residents are becoming viral.

A BBC journalist covering the protests was reportedly dragged by Chinese Police and taken into custody, providing real-time evidence of China’s lack of free expression. Since the protests began, several arrests have been made across various Chinese provinces.

The protesters are gaining support online from many individuals in different nations who have praised their fight for their right to free speech and assembly. According to a report, the Zero covid policy resulted in Chinese citizens being confined to their houses for longer than three months. It was the first time in China such a widespread protest uproar.

A video showing the crimes committed by the Chinese Police was uploaded to social media by Twitter user @Rossiewallis8. Police officers struck protesters with metal rods and other objects during the demonstrations.

There are more protestors in Beijing than ever before, and the demonstrations are anticipated to intensify over the next few days. The experts claimed that the CPP party is doomed and ill-equipped to handle the current crisis.
