On his official Facebook account, he emphasizes that the Metropolitan Council have presented what has been accomplished so far for the digital revolution in Sofia’s urban transport – over 19 million are already e-ticket trips.

Chairman Georgiev commented that he is proud that the Municipality retired the paper ticket and citizens have embraced the new technologies in public transport and benefited from it.

He further mentioned that under his direction, the council had discovered the completely renovated Yunak Power Station, built in 1932. , and its last reconstruction was carried out in 1971. Georgiev said it plays a significant role in providing trams, trolleys and electric buses in the city centre.

Its modernization is part of Sofia’s major project to develop Sofia’s electric transport and improve atmospheric air quality, funded by the OP “Environment”.

In addition to the repair of the iconic Boris Garden building, the station has completely renewed equipment from the world’s best manufacturers. He said, “This is how we guarantee Sofia citizens a quality and affordable transport service and a better urban environment.”

Chairman Georgiev remarked that recently, Sofia celebrated 120 years of the Ilinden – Transfiguration Uprising with the Mayor of the Ilinden Region, Ivan Bozhilov and fellow municipal councillors from VMRO.

Together with hundreds of citizens who gathered at the celebration despite the hot weather, the Municipality witnessed respect for the feat of the Bulgarians from Macedonia and Adriatic Thrace.

While addressing the residents of Sofia, Georgiev asserted that on the 186th anniversary of the birth of the Apostle of Freedom, the Municipality of Sofia discovered Vasil Levski’s only operating museum in Sofia.

He also publicized that Sofia Zoo has got a new addition. Chairman Georgiev reported that a Hanuman langur was born on June 14 in the Primate sector, to the delight of visitors and animal caregivers. The little monkey gets all the care he needs from his mom and zoo sitters, eating well and growing fast.
