Regional Governor Kristina Sidorova chaired a meeting of the Committee for the Selection of Members for the Children’s Council. The Children’s Council has representatives (title and substitute) of the 28 administrative regions in Bulgaria who are elected for a two-year term.

The candidates for the Gabrovo district were considered by a committee consisting of Galya Vrachanova-Zlateva, Director of RDSP Gabrovo; Emilia Angelova – Senior Expert in the RUO – Gabrovo; Dr Nikolina Geneva – Chief Inspector of the Gabrovo RZI; Insp. Dimitar Hristov, OD Ministry of Interior – Gabrovo; Petko Koichev – Director of Dramatic Theater – Gabrovo ; Galina Bankovska – Manager of “Veda Consult”. After discussion, the members tweeted a total of 7 applications in 3 directions that will be considered nationally.

The district governor will send them by July 30 to the State Agency “Protection of the Child” (SADD). The title holder and his replacement will be determined by a national committee among the seven applications submitted.

The Children’s Council has been operating since 2003. as an advisory body to the Chairman of DAZD. Its primary objective is to encourage participation in policy-making and decision-making processes related to children’s life and development.

Applications from children aged 13 can be proposed for members of the Children’s Council. Up to 16 years old, including those selected following the Selection Procedure, which runs on municipal, regional and national levels.

In addition to representatives of the 28 regions, four children from vulnerable groups were also given the opportunity to participate, and one quota for a representative of children received international protection in Bulgaria. The Children’s Council holds meetings up to four times a year. After reaching the age of 18, the Board members leave the organization, and new children fill their seats.
