Twitter user @n4df1bdsf posted a video of heavy snowfall and claimed that it was captured in Southeastern Bulgaria. Neighbouring countries like Romania and Moldova are struggling with the same situation. The location of the clip’s heavy snowfall and multiple automobiles straining to pass has yet to be determined.
The place highlighted in the clip is thought to be in southern or eastern Bulgaria, where there has been a lot of snowfall recently.
According to Novinite, the Blagoevgrad-Bansko route is stopped near the “Predel” pass due to several heavy-duty trucks. Despite the teams’ best attempts to clear the thick snow, the road is incredibly challenging.
According to BNR, there is a significant traffic delay in the Razlog-Bansko direction, where the trucks are stranded.
Driving teacher Dimitar Zlatev, who travelled in the morning, claimed that this was because the tracks lacked chains and some even had summer tyres.
The weather forecast advised Bulgarians to stay inside and limit their driving because it is quite challenging to drive in these conditions. Recently, numerous accidents were reported on Bulgarian roads due to poor visibility brought on by snowfall and a lack of traffic.
The weather experts advised against driving or recommended taking precautions if one must go outside. They recommended using snow-rated tyres for cars to have better traction and prevent slipping.
The Road Infrastructure Agency said the road surfaces are wet, occasionally icy, treated, and passable in winter weather. Fog has caused visibility to be decreased to 30 metres in the Vitinya area, and 100 metres at the Petrohan and Troyanski passes in Montana, Lovech, and on high ground in the Smolyan region.
