Bulgaria records new 457 COVID cases with 6 deaths in past day

Sofia, Bulgaria: The European country has recorded a total of an additional 457 new cases of the contagious COVID-19 virus in the last 24 hours, as per the data shared in the unified information portal as of May 18, 2022.

These new cases have been recorded from the additional 8130 tests conducted by the healthcare facilities in the past day. The positivity rate of the fresh COVID-19 infections stands at 5.62%.

With this, the total number of COVID-19 active cases in Bulgaria has increased to 99,213, which shows that the pandemic condition in the Balkan state is improving.

Meanwhile, a total of six (6) patients with the COVID-19 virus lost their lives to the deadliest viral illness during the last day, as stated by the official data.

There are a total of 5436 COVID-19 patients who got recovered from the contagious virus and were discharged from the hospital facilities.

For the present time, there are a total of 572 patients with the COVID-19 virus in the hospital facilities, including the recently admitted fifty-three (53) patients. There are a total of fifty (50) COVID patients who are in intensive care units.

Additional 781 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the past day.

To date, there are a total of 2,058,090 individuals in the European country who have taken their required number of COVID-19 vaccine doses and are now fully vaccinated against the mutant. This number of individuals accounts for around 29.7% of the total targeted eligible population of Bulgaria.

On the other hand, there are a total of 753,956 individuals who are fully vaccinated and have also taken their third dose or booster shots of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines, according to the official data. This number of Bulgarian nationals represents nearly 10.8% of the total targeted eligible population of Bulgaria.
