Sofia, Bulgaria: As per the data shared in the unified information portal, additional 1949 cases of the novel coronavirus have been recorded in Bulgaria in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of active infections to 193,778.
The positivity rate of the new COVID-19 cases stands at 11.86%, which were resulted in positive among the additional 16 422 COVID-19 tests conducted by the healthcare facilities in the last 24 hours.
Along with these new cases, there are a total of twenty-six (26) patients of the COVID-19 who lost their lives to the deadliest virus. With these new deaths, the total count of the COVID-19 related fatalities has increased to 36 222, according to the data shared in the unified portal.
Meanwhile, a total of 3565 patients recovered from the virus and have been discharged from the hospital facilities in Bulgaria as of March 17, 2022, taking the overall recovery rate to 889 474.
To date, there are a total of 2303 patients with the COVID-19 virus, who for the present time, are in the hospital facilities, including 228 newly admitted patients.
Currently, there are a total of 278 patients of the novel coronavirus in the intensive care unit. This number has witnessed a decrease by ten, as compared to the data of March 16.
Further, 2342 doses of the COVID vaccines and 1613 booster shots have been administered in Bulgaria during the time frame of the last 24 hours.
As per the statics, there are a total of 2,055,253 individuals in the European country who have received a required number of the COVID-19 vaccine doses and are in the category of fully vaccinated people. This number of Bulgarian citizens represents around 29.7% of the total population.
On the other hand, there are a total of 707,213 individuals in Bulgaria who are fully immunized and have also taken their booster shots (third dose) as of March 17, 2022.
