On Thursday, Bulgaria reported 6,766 new Covid-19 cases, in the last 24 hours, after conducting more than 52 thousand tests on Wednesday. According to the official data, 71.58 per cent of newly infected people were not vaccinated.
In the last 24 hours, 66 people succumbed to the virus, taking the tally to 31,303 and 758 were recovered and discharged from the hospital, bringing the total to 615,764.
As per the latest statics, 32,429 jabs have been administered. The total number of Covid-19 vaccines administered in the country have been reached 3,736,566.
So far, there are 117,409 active cases, and 4,608 have been admitted to the hospital. Of these, 493 are in Intensive Care Units (ICU). On Thursday, around 672 people were admitted to the hospital; 82 per cent of these were not vaccinated.
Since Covid-19 has started, Bulgaria has reported 764,476 numbers of lab-confirmed cases.

This sudden surge has pushed seven provinces to the Dark Red Zone and for now, four are in the yellow zone.
AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna are the three Covid-19 vaccines available in the country for administration. The Bulgarian government has commenced the vaccination drive under the ‘National Vaccination Plan.’ According to this, the vaccination program prioritizes health workers and staff, followed by the elderly (people above 65) and people suffering from chronic conditions. The government is providing jabs to Bulgarians, long-term and permanent residents. However, the vaccination drive also depends on the fluid and supply.
People travelling through Green Zone countries may enter Bulgaria without quarantine if they show EU Digital COVID Certificate, whereas 5 per cent of the people entering through Orange Zone countries will randomly be tested with rapid antigen tests. People from Red Zone countries are not allowed to enter.
