Sofia, Bulgaria: All of the four ministers of the ITN political party have officially submitted their resignations. With this, the coalition government of Bulgaria, which earlier consisted of 4 parties, is now reduced to three.

Although all of the 4 Cabinet Ministers can remain in the office for the time, their resignations will be put to the vote in Bulgaria’s National Assembly.

Regional Development Minister & the Deputy Prime Minister Grozdan Karadzhov, Foreign Minister Teodora Genchovska, Energy Minister Alexander Nikolov and Sports Minister Radostin Vassilev are the ministers of Slavi Trifonov-led ITN party who resigned.

The situation has led to political turmoil in the Balkan state, resulting in PM Petkov struggling to search for 12 MPs to gain a majority for a budget amendment.

Minister Karadzhkov and Vassilev submitted their resignations last week, and Genchovska and Nikolov submitted them today (June 13).

Following the three-party coalition administration Bulgaria now only holds 109 seats out of 240.

It is though unclear that whether the elections will be conducted or not.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, Lena Borislavova, speaking on the matter today, stated that everything would be done so that the early parliamentary elections are avoided before all legislative changes important for the year are approved.

These legislative changes include Budget amendments and then the package of 22 laws linked to being able to receive the funding from the EU’s Recovery and Sustainability Plan.
