Sofia, Bulgaria: Political chaos is now quite frequent in the Balkan state of Bulgaria. The opposition parties called on the entire coalition government of Bulgaria to resign. It then added that they would also not vote in favour of the ruling administration’s candidates to succeed the departing Cabinet ministers from the ITN quota.

The demand for resignation by the opposition comes today (June 9, 2022), after the leader of the ITN political party, Slavi Trifonov, stated that he is calling off his party’s name from the Bulgarian coalition government as well as from the parliament majority.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, in his view, commented on running the government with three parties only which are – We Continue the Change (WCC), the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and Democratic Bulgaria.

ITN has clearly stated that it is not in the mood to negotiate with the other three coalition government political parties.

On the other end, the leader of GERB-UDF, Dessislava Atanassova, expressed his disappointment with the falling of the government.

He stated, “It is very tragic that the government is falling apart not because of deep ideological contradictions but due to the mutual accusations of corruption and incompetence. Those who came up with the appeal for zero tolerance for corruption have reached the level of zero tolerance even among themselves“.

Keeping his viewpoint on the ongoing political instability in the country, the leader of the opposition party – Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), Mustafa Karadayi, said that his party will not show support to the new ministers and awaits for the whole Cabinet to resign.

“We will not support new ministers. We are waiting for the resignation of the entire Cabinet. In my opinion, Brussels, the European Commissioners along with the European Parliament are aware of the behaviour of Minister Rashkov, the lawlessness & the transformation of the police into a militia during the elections”.

ITN MP Iva Miteva stated that the general public of the country is not in favour of conducting elections either, adding they are tired now; moreover, the elections will provide a more “complicated picture”.
