Even though one cannot stop the aging process, one can still be aware of how to treat the body in the process. The nutrients and food one gives to the body as they get older will be one of the best ways to take care of themselves. Knowing which food is to be taken to slow down the aging process is crucial after 50.

Food that helps in slowing the aging process –

Fatty Fish – Certain types of fish are full of omega 3 fatty acids, such as herring, cod, and salmon, which helps help with inflammation in aging skin and reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease. Research has shown that fatty fish can prevent and slow the symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease in aging patients. Omega 3 fatty acids are good for the eyes as well.

Nuts and Seeds – They are plant foods rich in heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E, which helps prepare for skin damage. Vitamin E helps in overall health as one age.

Blueberries  – are a rich source of Vitamin A and C, which help reduce inflammations that otherwise lead to skin damage or aging. It has tons of bioactive compounds and antioxidants, making it a superfood that helps fight again. Blueberries also contain a specific antioxidant called anthocyanins which protects the skin by reducing overall inflammation in the body.

Olive Oil – It is made up of oleic acid (monounsaturated fatty acid), and because of this, it is a part of a healthy diet as one age. This is also one of the reasons that in many skincare products, olive oil is added and has those fatty acids that are skin is made up of.
