Dominica: Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit with the Ministry of Tourism has extended a call for nominations of 2024 Tourism Service Excellence Awards. The ministry urges people to nominate their favourite ones until deadline May 15, 2024.
PM Skerrit extends the invitation of nominating people and highlighted the theme, “Tourism is Everybody’s Business – Own Our Own!”
Reportedly, the 2024 Tourism Service Excellence Awards will begin on May 01, 2024 and will be observed for the whole month till May 31, 2024.
The Ministry further urged people to celebrate Dominica’s Tourism Service Excellence with them by Nominating outstanding professionals and businesses for the 2024 Tourism Service Excellence Awards.
Prime Minister highlighted whether it is the exceptional customer service or the innovative tours, it is necessary to recognise those who elevate the tourism industry.
Moreover, Dominica is celebrating Tourism Awareness Month 2024 at present, with the Focus on Stakeholder Engagement, as Dominica’s Annual Tourism Awareness Month has kicked off on May 07, 2024 under the theme, “Tourism is Everybody’s Business – Own Our Own.”
It is an initiative under the guidance of PM Roosevelt Skerrit, that is led by the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) in association with the Ministry of Tourism and the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association (DHTA).
The Tourism Awareness Month 2024 aims to highlight the significance of tourism to the island’s economy and recognise the contributions of stakeholders across the industry.
Considerably, the theme for the year 2024 underlines the shared responsibility of Dominicans and have fostered a thriving tourism sector.
Destination Marketing Manager at the DDA – Andia Ravariere, enlightened all on the concept of the Tourism Awareness Month 2024 and said that as they begin with the Tourism Awareness Month 2024, they are reminded that the stewardship of Dominica’s tourism industry rests on the shoulders of every Dominican.
Manager Ravariere emphasised that the theme is not just a call to action, it is an invitation for all to actively engage in nurturing and showcasing the island’s natural beauty, culture and heritage.
A variety of events are planned and scheduled for the whole month of May to showcase the diverse contributions of local stakeholders to Dominica’s tourism success story.
The plan mainly includes to begin with the signature event of Dominica’s Jazz n’ Creole Festival, that features main stage performances as well as fringe events.
The Tourism Awareness Month 2024 will also see the launch of a new “Staycation” program, designed to encourage domestic tourism.
Notably, the DHTA will host the annual Hike Fest, which will offer guided excursions through Dominica’s renowned hiking trails.
The recognition or rewards will be extended to the industry leaders at the Tourism Awards ceremony and will celebrate excellence in various sectors of tourism.
