Saint Lucia: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Dr Ernest Hilaire, is taking an active part in the celebrations of the highly anticipated Jazz & Arts Festival 2024. The music festival is being held from April 30 to May 12, and there are a number of events and activities across the island.
On May 8, Minister Hilaire was thrilled to attend the Ciceron R.C. Combined Schools ‘All That Jazz’ event. He shared glimpses of the event and added that performers included the students themselves, along with the Royal Saint Lucia Police Band, who serenaded students and staff.
A day before, the Minister also attended that Monchy Jazz and lauded the organisers of the event while noting, “By all accounts, the event was full of excitement and entertainment. What a way to end the community jazz events.”
The Minister also noted that he is looking forward to Jazz main stage from Tuesday to Sunday at the Pigeon Island National Landmark.
On the other hand, Dr. Ernest Hilaire remarked that the Pure Jazz component of the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival was a truly impressive spectacle. He praised Allison Marquis for demonstrating a remarkable level of creativity with a pan during his performance on Tuesday evening, accompanied by his band consisting of both local and international musicians.
He added that American bassist and composer John Patitucci entertained the crowd with a jazzy set that received cheerful applause at the end.
While expressing his utmost excitement, the Tourism Minister emphasized that he is already looking forward to next year’s event and stated, “I had a great time at Soufriere Jazz – The Experience. The ambiance, stage performances, and service were all exceptional. I want to congratulate the organizers for a fantastic job over the weekend. The show continued at a great pace, following successful events in Bexon, Desruisseaux, and Fond D’or.”
The Tourism Minister’s active participation in all the events of Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival showcases his dedication towards the traditions and culture of the country and his love for the music festival.
