Dominica: PM Skerrit meets Chinese Ambassador Maoming, to enhance bilateral cooperation

Dominica: Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit met with the new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Dominica – Chu Maoming. At the meeting, discussions regarding important matters were included that concerned the bilateral ties between both the nations.

Discussions between the Prime Minister Skerrit and the Ambassador Maoming emphasised upon the strong bond between Dominica and China, that has been nurtured over two decades of collaboration, trust and friendship.

Since the establishment of their diplomatic relations in the year 2004, the two nations have worked together in various sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education and agriculture.

PM Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit further led a delegation to the People’s Republic of China in March to commemorate 20 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The visit of Chinese Ambassador has underlined the enduring partnership and shared commitment to further enhance the bilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of both the nations.

Upon meeting with Ambassador Chu Maoming, PM Skerrit expressed, “It was an honour to welcome the new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Commonwealth of Dominica, His Excellency Chu Maoming.”

Before meeting the Prime Minister, Ambassador Maoming presented his credentials and paid his visit to President of the Commonwealth of Dominica – Sylvanie Burton.

PM Skerrit further presented his gratitude for China’s immeasurable support towards the national development efforts and said that he assures the Ambasador of the Government’s full backing as he begins his tour of duty in Dominica and expressed the gratitude for China’s immeasurable support for the national development efforts.

He added to his statement that they have pledged to maintain the close ties which were fostered for more than 20 years of mutual trust, cooperation and true friendship between the two nations.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit has extended his full support to the Ambassador during his tenure in Dominica and he also expressed his gratitude and appreciation for China’s significant contributions towards the development of the country.
