Botev Plovdiv, the Plovdiv-based Bulgarian football club, announced that on October 3, the Club will celebrate 94 years since winning the first championship title in football, won by Nikola Shterev-Starika’s squad in the distant year 1929.
On the same sign for all “yellow-black” hearts date, at the base of “Botev” in Komatevo, a solemn ceremony will be held, at which its new name will be officialized – “Nikola Shterev – Starika Sports Complex”.
On this occasion, and as part of the cooperation between PFC “Botev” and Yellow and Black Foundation, on the facade of the central stand on the side of “Komatevsko Shose” metal letters with the new name will be mounted and prepared for this purpose, whose lights will light up the sports complex on October 3 precisely at 19:12 an hour.
Their installation will begin on October 1, dismantling the current ones and moving to a suitable location. Veterans of Botev, representatives of the local government, all DUSH formations of the Club, as well as organized supporters of the “yellow-black” from Club of supporters of Botev Plovdiv PFC Botev Association and United factions BULTRAS are invited to attend the upcoming event.
The ceremony host will be Valery Stankov, and among the attendees will be the heirs of Nikola Shterev – Miroslava Katsarova and Nikola Solakov.
The program will start at 6.30 pm in the café of the central tribune, where a meeting of generations will take place, where legendary former Botev footballers will be able to talk to supporters against the background of an exhibition dedicated to Nikola Shterev and the 1929 Botev champion team.
Again there, the botevists will be able to take pictures with the replica of the King’s Cup, won by Nikola Shterev and his teammates in a direct match against Levski in Sofia.
In the interval of 18.30 – 19.30 hours, traffic on “Komatevsko Shose” in the area of the “Nikola Shterev – Starika Sports Complex” will be restricted to cars, and all who wish to attend the ceremony will be able to leave their cars at the parking adjacent to the complex.
