Sofia, Bulgaria: Ilin Dimitrov, the tourism Minister of Bulgaria, discussed the possibilities of popularizing the destination Bulgaria to the global audience in partnership with the highly successful British production of professor Bethany Hughes. She is ready to shoot a documentary series about Bulgaria.

During the discussion held yesterday, May 31, 2023, the Minister of Culture, Nayden Todorov, also joined the conversation. B.C. Rob Dixon, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Bulgaria, Deputy Minister of Tourism Prof. Mariela Modeva and Peter Todorov – Executive Director of the National Film Center Executive Agency.

The meeting continues the conversations they had with Bethany Hughes during the UNWTO FESTA Forum in Tirana in April 2023. The possibilities to create a unique series to present the treasures of Bulgaria were discussed.

Minister Dimitrov highlighted that “Treasures of the World” broadcasts in 120 countries around the world. The first series of the documentary series featured Greece, Malta, Gibraltar, Jordan, Cyprus, the Mediterranean, Turkey in the east, Turkey in the west, Istanbul, Albania and Azerbaijan.

“It will be a terrific delight for us to be able to tell about Bulgaria in the next series, to show your rich history and cultural wonders that you are rightly proud of,” noted Bethany Hughes.
