Winter Olympic Day marks the 25th anniversary of winning the only Olympic biathlon gold medal by Chepelare’s golden girl Ekaterina Dafovska in Nagano in 1998. was held yesterday at the renovated Children’s Snow Park “Dortevto” in the heart of Chepelare.
On February 9, Chepelare Children’s Snow Park “Dortevo” Chepelare was officially opened by Mr Boran Hadzhiev – Mayor of Chepelare Municipality and our golden biathlon champion from Nagano 1998 – Catherine Dafovska.
A piping team submitted a special greeting on the occasion of the holiday to the CPLR ODC Chepelare with head Peter Yanev. Their performance warmed the hearts of everyone present on a cold morning, and a beautiful Rhodope choro curved on the runway.
“The world is the Olympics, and the white slopes of the “Dortevo” have become a magical arena of snow games and entertainment. It was warm, sunny and very emotional in the participants’ hearts and the audience’s. And the smiles and good mood accompanied us all the time,” – Chepelare Kindergarten shared.
Various games were organized – target shooting – Olympic circles, sleigh races, tire pulling, rope pulling, and a demonstration of the local biathlon club SK “Rozhen – Chepelare 2016” with coach Ventsislav Alexandrov and chairman Ekaterina Dafovska.
Participants in the games were personally awarded by the golden Ekaterina Dafovska, Mr Boran Hadzhiev – Mayor and Mrs Antoaneta Agovska – Deputy. mayor of Chepelare municipality. The younger ones received medals, and the older students received diplomas.
All attendees were distributed warm herbal tea provided by the Municipality. The leader of the sports holiday was Mr Borislav Kiryakov, a legend in skiing and current coach of alpine skiing and football at CPLR ODC Chepelare.
The conditions of the track are perfect and artificial snow is constantly made, which is fully taken care of by the Chepelare Municipality administration, and the children’s snow park “Dortevoto” with all facilities (transport path, tow, van for dressing and storage, inflatable tires, etc. ) has been made available for use completely free of charge for all those interested throughout the 2023 winter season.
On Saturday (11.02) at 11:00 will be the continuation of the Winter Olympic Day program – Chepelare 2023 Ski and snowboard competitions for students and veterans are upcoming.
At 12:15 pm, the Chepellar medalists from international competitions held so far in the 2022/2023 winter season will be awarded. – Radoslav Yankov, Peter Gergovski, Marko Semerdzhiev and Yordanka Yoncheva, with which the program will end.
