Plovdiv : Governor Stoev visits flood-hit areas in Karlov, examines situation

We organized an effective mobilization to restore the flooded streets. The municipality is working swiftly; every measure has been taken to drain the flood water as soon as possible. ”

Stoev also spoke with the Director of “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population”, Chief Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov, who was present in the highly affected areas. Commissioner Nikolov assured him that additional teams would be sent if necessary, but according to the situation, this is not necessary.

He thanked the commander of 61st Stryam Mechanized Brigade, Brigadier General Deyan Deshkov, who assisted the municipality and the effective people. The fire department teams, including four teams from Sofia, 40 army personnel, workers from all municipal enterprises, and many teachers and volunteers, are working together to clear the area. The clean-up process is personally led by the deputy mayors of the Municipality of Karlovo, Anton Minev and Danka Zidarova-Lyurtova.

Stefan Filchev, Director of the high school, is worried that they will not be able to start the new session in schools usually this year due to the damages done by the floods. The regional governor assured him that, soon, he would receive the documentation of the damage and the necessary repairs; he would talk to the Education minister for urgent distribution of funds so that the repairs of the damaged workshops and classrooms could begin next month.

The regional governor announced that he expects to receive funds from the Municipality of Karlovo, which the Regional Administration will immediately forward to the Interdepartmental Commission so that the funds will quickly reach the citizens affected by recent floods.
