Two Policemen died this morning when they were trying to stop a Bus with illegal migrants. Stanimir Stanev, Deputy Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, explained that a bus did not stop at two “Border Police” checkpoints before 5:00 AM this morning. It was a Turkish bus carrying 47 migrants. The Bus entered the bicycle lane and ran over the police car, bus stop and chemical toilet in the region of Trapezitsa roundabout.

After a while, the police, fire and ambulance team arrived on the spot. Rescue and investigation are in progress. The responsibility of the inquiry is given to National Investigation Service and the Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the informants, no one is injured inside the Bus.

The Bus was marked as “Virginia-M”. The number of the Bus is a Dutch number. It seems like the number is fake. There is also unconfirmed information that the bus numbers have been stolen. They do not look like the usual numbers from this country. The Bus is in terrible shape.

Georgi Chinev, The district prosecutor of Burgas, this incident as a “conscious, purposeful act”. He cleared out that this incident would not be seen as an act of carelessness.

Mayor Dimitar Nikolov said, ” I express my condolences to the relatives and friends of the fallen policemen, who served their country until their last breath”. He announced that tomorrow would be declared a day of mourning in Burgas in memory of policeman Yordan Iliev and senior policeman Atanas Grade.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivan Demerdzhiev, arrived at the accident scene on the “Trapezitsa” roundabout. He said, “Migrants have declared war on the Bulgarian state. In the upcoming days, severe action will be taken against the channelers and against people from the Ministry of Internal Affairs who have supported illegal migration. The military will also be involved in reducing the migrant flow. Security around the Borders will also be strengthened.”
