NIMH announces yellow warning in 14 regions of Bulgaria

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), situated in Panorama St-3, Haskovo- Bulgaria, issued a yellow warning code in 14 regions of the country. According to (NIMH), There will be short-term rainfall with thunder in the following areas: Sofia region; Kyustendil; Blagoevgrad; Pazardzhik; Plovdiv; Smolyan; Stara Zagora; Haskovo; Kardjeli; Gabrovo; Veliko Tarnovo; Targovishte; Razgrad.

The expected amounts of rain will be between 20-25 litres per square meter and locally up to 40 litres per square meter. The cloudiness will accumulate over a significant part of the country. There will be cumulus rainclouds in the afternoon and expected to be present until midnight. 

There will be brief rainfall and thunderstorms in southern Bulgaria afternoon. Sunny weather will prevail over the plains near the Danube, where there will be no rainfall. It will blow weak in Eastern Bulgaria – to the moderate, northeasterly wind. The prevailing maximum temperatures will be between 27°C and 32°C; in Sofia, 27°C – 28°C.

On Friday and Saturday

The chance of rainfall in most of the country temporarily decreases, and more hours of sunshine increase over Bulgaria. On Friday, extreme rain and thunder are expected in South-Western Bulgaria and outer South-Eastern regions.

Temperatures will slowly rise, and on Saturday, the prevailing maximum will be between 29°C and 34°C. On Friday in the eastern regions, the wind will still be moderate from the northeast; on Saturday, it will weaken.

Over the mountains

There will be cumulonimbus clouds over the mountains and short rains and thunderstorms in many places. Moderate to solid northeasterly winds will blow. The maximum temperature at the height of 1200 meters will be around 22°С, at 2000 meters – around 16°С.

Above the Black Sea

There will be more significant cumulus clouds above the Black Sea. Short-term rains and thunder are possible during the afternoon. It will blow with a moderate north-northeast wind. The Maximum temperature around the region is between 29°C – 31°C. The temperature of the seawater is 26°C – 27°C.
