Sofia, Bulgaria: The COVID-19 situation in Bulgaria is going through a fluctuation phase. During the last 24 hours, the European country has recorded fresh 160 cases of the novel coronavirus. The update on the country’s COVID-19 situation has been shared in the unified information portal of June 9, 2022.  

These new COVID cases were recorded from the additional 3818 tests conducted by the healthcare facilities at testing sites on June 8. The positivity rate of the new coronavirus infections is 4.19%, the official data further adds. 

This brings the total count of active COVID19 cases to 70,298, whereas the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 1,166,476. 

A total of four (4) patients with the viral illness took their last breath during the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll. Meanwhile, there are a total of 874 individuals who recovered from the contagious virus and got discharged from the hospital facilities during the previous day. 

All of the deceased belonged to the category of the unvaccinated population. 

Currently, there are a total of 303 individuals in the hospital facilities of Bulgaria. This number includes the newly admitted COVID patients, the data adds. There are a total of twenty-nine (29) COVID-19 patients in intensive care units – ICU. 

Additional 451 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the European country during the last 24 hours. 

COVID-19 Vaccination rate – 

In Bulgaria, till June 8, 2022, there are a total of 2,060,201 individuals who have taken their recommended number of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines and are now in the category of fully immunized individuals. This number of individuals represents nearly 29.7% of the total targeted eligible population of Bulgaria, the official statistics further reveal. 

People are asked to abide by the COVID-19 norms and regulations established by the Bulgarian government.
