Sofia, Bulgaria: The European country recorded a total of additional 239 cases of the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the information shared in the unified information portal of May 21, 2022.
These new COVID-19 cases have been recorded from the additional 5414 tests conducted by the healthcare staff of Bulgaria during the previous day. The positivity rate for newly infected individuals in the Balkan state stands at 4.5%.
With this, the total count of the active cases of the novel coronavirus has hiked to 83,830 as of May 21, 2022, the data adds. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections has increased to 1,163,225 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Along with this, a total of nine (9) patients with the COVID-19 virus have lost their lives to the mutant. As per the data, there are a total of 2328 COVID patients who got recovered from the deadly virus and have been discharged from the hospital facilities.
For the current time, there are a total of 508 individuals in the hospital facilities of Bulgaria, including the recently admitted new patients. There are a total of forty-six (46) COVID patients in intensive care units.
COVID-19 vaccination rate of Bulgaria –
Till May 20, 2022, there are a total of 2,058,531 individuals who have taken their required number of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines and are now in the category of fully immunized. This number of citizens represents around 29.7% of the total targeted eligible population of the European country.
On the other hand, till May 20, 2022, there are a total of 755,539 individuals in Bulgaria who are fully vaccinated and have also taken their third dose or booster shots of the COVID vaccines. This number of individuals represents nearly 10.9% of the total targeted eligible population, the official data further reveals.
