This data, analyzed by Bulgaria ON AIR, highlights a 25% rise in luxury car ownership over the last year.

The Ministry’s statistics indicate that the share of luxury vehicles less than five years old has grown by an impressive 40%. In contrast, the total number of passenger cars in the country has increased by just 3.9% during the same period.

This stark difference emphasizes the burgeoning demand for luxury automobiles among Bulgaria’s elite.

Over the past twelve months, the number of luxury cars from the eight noted brands registered in Bulgaria grew by 176, reaching a total of 879 vehicles.

Specifically, the number of these high-end cars under five years old rose by 88, bringing their total to 308. These figures reflect a significant shift in consumer preferences towards newer, more prestigious vehicles.

Among the luxury brands, Bentley has emerged as the top performer, with the highest sales over the past year.

The number of Bentleys on Bulgarian roads increased by 60, bringing the total to 338 as of July 1. Close on its heels, Lamborghini and Ferrari also reported substantial sales, underscoring the appeal of these exotic cars among Bulgarian buyers.

Aston Martin and McLaren, while still relatively rare in Bulgaria, also experienced growth. Aston Martin registrations increased by 15 units, and McLaren saw an uptick of 6 units.

Currently, there are 51 Aston Martins and 33 McLarens registered in the country. Despite their limited numbers, these brands command significant attention due to their exclusivity and high price tags.

The starting price for an Aston Martin DB11 is approximately $415,000, while the McLaren Artura starts at $233,000.

In addition to these brands, Lotus has also seen a rise in popularity. There are now 18 Lotus cars in Bulgaria, marking a yearly increase of 7 units. Meanwhile, the presence of ultra-exclusive brands is highlighted by the solitary Bugatti in the country, which, according to the Ministry of the Interior’s data, is between 15 and 20 years old.

The surge in luxury car sales is a clear indicator of the growing wealth and changing tastes of Bulgarian consumers. It reflects a broader economic trend where an increasing number of individuals are capable of affording and choosing to invest in high-end automobiles.

This trend is not just about numbers but also about what it signifies for the market. The substantial growth in luxury car sales, particularly of newer models, suggests a rising confidence in the economy and a desire among the wealthy to display their status through high-end purchases.

As these brands continue to make inroads in the Bulgarian market, it will be interesting to see how this sector evolves in the coming years.
