Five Bulgarian nationals have been detained by Greek police following a violent altercation at a night bar in Halkidiki.
The incident, which left three of the suspects hospitalized, occurred during a music night event attended by numerous patrons, including families.
The Greek police are currently investigating the details of the event, according to reports by Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).
Witnesses stated that the conflict began when the group of Bulgarians had a disagreement with the bar’s owner, escalating into a physical confrontation.
During the scuffle, one of the Bulgarians was shot and is currently in serious condition at Polygyros Hospital in Halkidiki.
The identities of the shooter and the circumstances surrounding the injuries of the other two hospitalized Bulgarians remain unclear.
These two individuals, who were also injured during the altercation, are not in critical condition.
Emergency medical teams quickly responded to the scene in Chaniotis, Halkidiki.
The injured were initially taken by ambulance to Kassandria Health Center before being transferred to Polygyros Hospital. Doctors have described the condition of the gunshot victim as particularly serious.
According to local media reports, it is suspected that individuals involved in the incident may have ties to the Bulgarian mafia.
During the altercation, the Bulgarians reportedly discharged weapons into the air, causing panic among the bar’s patrons and nearby diners. Unconfirmed rumors of a fatality circulated, though these have not been verified.
