Sofia, Bulgaria: Georgi Valentinov Georgiev, chairman of the Metropolitan Council, highlighted the ongoing working projects in the capital Sofia. He announced through his official Facebook account that Sofia Municipality is implementing the graffiti cleaning program, which Georgiev proposed to the municipal council.

The new thing is that Sofia Municipality will clean parts of the facades of residential buildings utterly free of charge at the owners’ request. A decision on the floor property is required as an application to the Metropolitan Municipality, indicating the colour of the contaminated part of the facade.

Metropoliton Chairman Georgiev mentioned that the Municipality had received ten applications and organised the cleaning the first five buildings. The first cleaned is on “Oborishte” and Boulevard, “Vassil Levski”.

The implementation of the program will continue throughout the summer to clean more buildings and restore the shape of beautiful Sofia. The residents of Sofia appreciated Municipalty’s efforts to make Sofia clean and hygienic. Chairman Georgiev suggested that citizens register those who want to remove graffiti from their walls.

Additionally, they requested strict actions against individuals who spoil the walls with spray paint. The residents urged to apply heavy fines on those who ruin the walls with spray paints.

Chairman Georgiev announced yesterday that a new park will be in the Mladost area. He noted that Finance and Budget Committee to the Metropolitan Municipal Council accepted the proposal to invest up to BGN 1,600,000 in a “Park with an event area, a playground and a pump track facility” in “Mladost-3”.

The park is located at the corner of the street. Philip Avramov and St. Regiment. Vladimir Serafimov. Near the field are also two large schools, public transport stops, the metro stations “Academic Alexander Teodorov-Balan” and “Mladost 3”, as well as many residential and public buildings.

A completely new alley network, children’s and sports facilities, benches, tables, café, lighting, video surveillance, water elements and landscaping will be built. The playgrounds will be combined – for children of 0-3 and 3-12 years of age. An event area with a capacity of 200 people is also planned.
