Sofia, Bulgaria: Yordanka Fandakova, Mayor of Sofia, informed through its social media account that the Municipality started constructing a floor parking for 157 cars at the Sitnyakovo market, Slatina. The 5-story parking lot will be in a place that is currently used for parking.
She highlighted that the Municipality will build a sports field and two gyms on the last level of the building. They are currently building a floor parking lot in the Nadezhda district for 310 cars. 70% of the construction is completed, and Mayor Fandakova expects the parking lot to be ready in the fall.
The mayor of Sofia remarked that the parking will be on five ground levels, with a capacity of 157 cars. The project envisions building a sports complex on the last level (level 5) with a 20×40 meter sports court, two fitness halls and two changing rooms. Sixteen parking spaces with electric vehicle charging stations are also planned.
Mayor Fandakova expressed that This is the first time the Sofia Municipality is building such a municipal parking lot with a sports complex. She said, “We have watched how basketball is played on courts on roofs of buildings in the movies – this will already happen in Slatina”.
Along with this parking lot, the Municipality will reveal nearly 500 new parking spaces to the people of Nadezhda and Slatina, which they build under their program to construct parking lots in the neighbourhoods.
The Chairman of the Metropolitan Municipality, Georgiev Valentinov Georgiev, also shared information about the under-construction underground parking.
He showed that on July 14, they made the first dig to the Sitnyakovo market, where the facility will be built, together with the Mayor Yordanka Fandakova and the Director of Markets “East” Mrs Daniela Stoyneva.
