Experts from the ethnographic museum also worked with them and introduced them to the symbolism of Lazarovden. The students learned ritual songs and dances, and on April 8 will participate in the restoration of customs in Dryanovo and the Etar Museum. Rehearsals will be held at the Historical Museum of Dryanovo.

Lazrovden is celebrated on the eighth day before Easter. According to folk tradition, the holiday is also called “Lazar”, “Lazaritsa”, or “Lazarova Saturday” and is one of the most important in the Bulgarian calendar, dedicated to love and fertility.

Only girls between 10 and 16 can participate in the custom performed on this day. Lazarus is a rite of dedication. After “going through” it, girls can now publicly “pee”, be allowed to ride around, wear embroidered shirts and be asked to be women.
