Stefan Smerkalev signed his first professional contract with Botev (Plovdiv). The Club youngster paraphrases a long-term contract with the “canaries”.
Stefan Smerkalev was born on May 14, 2007, in Sofia. He has been part of the “yellow-black” school since their earliest childhood.
Smerkalev, who is distinguished by serious growth for his age, has passed through all formations of the Plovdiv Academy. The goalkeeper is also part of the youth national team of Bulgaria.
Smerkalev does not miss a match of his beloved Botev, which can very often be seen in the stands of the “Botev 1912 Football Complex” and in the visiting sector during the visits of the “canaries”.
On September 23, 2022, he made his first minutes in men’s football in control of the double against Beroe. Two months later, on November 13, he recorded a full 90 minutes in a Second League encounter against Montana, winning 4:1.
