On January 1, President Rumen Radev congratulated Bulgarian citizens on the New year 2023 and highlighted some significant incidents that happened throughout the year and how they affected the country.

During the address, He said, “A year that tested not only economic and social stability but also the ability of our politicians to consensus and stands alongside citizens in our common path forward”.

Speaking about the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which impacts the entire world by raising the potential threat of a Nuclear War, President Radev stated that a devastating war for Europe broke out near the borders of Bulgaria, which continues to heat up and intensify.

The energy problems and unstoppable inflation affected every Bulgarian home, and this year did not miss natural disasters and another early election. The hope for political stability is postponed to the next one.

President Radev Bulgaria has provided numerous types of support to Ukraine during these times of crisis, like weapon supplies, medical supplies and providing shelter to refugees who arrived in Ukraine.

He said, “Institutions and citizens joined hands to shelter refugees from the war in Ukraine”.

In addition, the head of the state highlighted the many natural calamities and challenges Bulgaria faced in 2022. Radev noted, “To extinguish summer fires and help victims of the Karlovsk flood, to find the lost Alexander, to support the cause of the health of the Bulgarian children”.

President Radev encouraged the Bulgarian people and underlined that no one outside would care about their progress, dignity and place under the sun. It is a concern, responsibility, and moral duty of every individual to take care of their family and Children as they are the country’s future.

He also commented that Until a stable government is formed, the official cabinet will continue to fulfil its duty to control the energy crisis and inflation, to ensure the security of Bulgarians, for the modernisation and European integration of the country.

Radev also emphasised that everyone has to do their part to bring peace to the country. “Let’s meet it with faith in ourselves and hope for the future. Let’s overcome apathy and division because only united, with the strength and talent of the whole nation, we can build that Bulgaria where our children can stay and be proud”.
