Yambol: High speed and reckless driving leads to death of 31-year-old policeman

He was charged with breaking traffic laws while driving a vehicle, which led to a collision with an on-duty police officer. In this way, Aivazov’s carelessness led to the death of a police officer. After conducting the alcohol test, it was observed that the accused was intoxicated while operating the vehicle. The crime occurred on September 26, 2022, on a road segment between Malenovo and Straldzha villages in the Yambol area.

The police determined during the investigation that the dead officer was a patrol member. He was checking on an illegally staying foreign citizen when the car driven by the accused struck him and ran away. The District Court’s judgement in Yambol is appealable to the Court of Appeal in Burgas.

On September 27, just after 9:00 pm, the event took place on the Malenovo-Straldzha route. In RU-Straldja, there was a refugee alarm. When a police patrol arrived, they located the Syrian refugee. Gennady Troev, aged 31, was struck by a car and died; his papers were examined. The policeman was taken to the hospital immediately, but he passed away a short while later. Ahmed Aivazov, 44, of Straldzha, was driving at a very high speed, and the coroner found more than 1% alcohol in his blood after the collision.

Another accident was reported at a town named Malko Tarnovo in Burgas province. Two cars collided on Malko Tarnovo road at 4:30 am. Initial reports state that a vehicle with a Romanian registration lost control and struck a car with a Burgas registration. The car was driven by a man and a woman, both Romanian citizens, and a couple and their two children went in the Burgas vehicle. The two Romanians and the Bulgarian mother with the two kids were rushed to the hospital.
