Bulgaria is now under GREEN ZONE

As the COVID morbidity rate of Bulgaria falls below 100 per 100 000 population on a 14-day basis, the Balkan state now tumbles to “GREEN ZONE” from “YELLOW ZONE”. The data has been shared by the National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCIPD). 

According to the data present till May 3, 2022, the COVID-19 morbidity rate of Bulgaria stands at 99.14 per 100 000 population on a two-week basis. The number has been decreased from 108.78. This is indeed a positive sign that the COVID-19 pandemic situation is improving in the European country. 


At least 18 of the total 28 districts fall under the “GREEN ZONE”, and the remaining comes under the “YELLOW ZONE”. 

Below is the list of Bulgarian districts that are in the green zone: 

  • Blagoevgrad, 
  • Bourgas, 
  • Varna, 
  • Veliko Turnovo, 
  • Vratsa, 
  • Dobrich, 
  • Kurdhzali, 
  • Kyustendil, 
  • Pazardzhik, 
  • Pleven,
  • Plovdiv, 
  • Razgrad, 
  • Rousse, 
  • Smolyan, 
  • Turgovishte, 
  • Haskovo, 
  • Shoumen,
  • and Yambol.

The official data shared by NCIPD notes that the COVID-19 morbidity rate of the yellow zone stands between 100 and 249.9 out of 100 000 population on a 14-day basis.   

On the other hand, the COVID-19 morbidity rate in the capital city of Bulgaria stands at 191.68 out of 100 000 population. This is the highest toll in the Bulgarian districts. 

To date, there are nearly 29.7% of the total targeted eligible population has received the required number of the COVID-19 vaccines and is now in the category of fully vaccinated ones. Meanwhile, around 10.7% of the eligible targeted Bulgarian population is fully vaccinated and has also received their third dose, which is booster shots of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines. 

The Bulgarian government is working for the safety and security of the Balkan state. However, the health ministry of the country asked the general public to abide by the COVID-19 norms so as to remain safe from contracting the contagious virus.
