The implementation of municipal educational programs in Burgas schools, which are in two directions, continues. One is about the digital competencies of students. The programs the children will be trained in are “Telerik Academy” and “Students train students”.

The other program is “First Class Start + +”, which is an upgrade of what has been done so far under “First Class Start”. Robots have been purchased for third and fourth-grade students.

The other group of programs target functional literacy. They aim to increase students’ knowledge in Bulgarian language, mathematics, history, geography and other disciplines.

After “Read My Tale”, in which 400 students participated, we are launching the program to increase literacy in the elementary year.

It’s called “Summer Refresh” and aims to work with the classroom teachers. The training was completed yesterday. A tool will be used equally for all schools to help children recall the knowledge and skills of the previous year. This will allow them to adopt the new material more easily during classes.

The other program is “My Hometown Burgas”. Local history classes will be conducted in all Burgas schools, aiming to learn about the sights, natural resources and the past of Burgas.

The Municipality of Burgas also works on programs related to children’s health and physical activity. On September 15, the preventive program “Healthy Teeth in the First Grade” will begin. Each student with the first-grade school kit will receive a voucher for a free check-up at a dentist located near the school.

The municipal program for the prevention of spinal deformities continues. This year, a new program related to metabolic syndrome will launch, which will detect early signs of diabetes and obesity.

All schools will be provided with unique scales that, in addition to weight and height, will also measure body mass. This, in turn, will allow studies to be conducted on the parameters that can lead to the mentioned diseases.

In addition to the traditional student sports calendar, which is performed every year, the program “Sport for Every Burgas Child” has been launched. It will enable all third-grade students to play sports under the guidance of leading instructors.
