A total of 21 were nominated teachers in Gabrovo municipality for the 2023 Teacher of the Year prize, organized by the Union of Bulgarian Teachers. They received ribbons and certificates at an official ceremony at the Ritual Hall of the Municipality of Gabrovo today.
Distinguished teachers are divided into eight directions: Preschool Education and Preparation, Elementary Education, Humanities, Natural Mathematical Sciences, Arts and Sports, Principals and Deputy Principals, Young Teachers, Educational Work, School Psychologists and Pedagogical Counselors. Thirty-two retired teachers were also awarded at the same ceremony.

She presented the honours of the five nominated teachers in the Humanities. Denitsa Parahuleva – Bulgarian language and literature teacher at NAG, Daniela Kostadinova – English teacher at Vasil Levski University, Ivalena Parashkevova – Bulgarian language and Literature teacher at Neofit Rilski Elementary School, Mariana Astardzhieva – century. Geography and economics teacher at Raicho Karolev University – Gabrovo, Mariana Alexandrova – st. Teacher of Bulgarian language and literature at Ran Basilik Elementary School – Gabrovo.
“I congratulate you on your dedication and for continuing what our grandparents promised when they created the First New Bulgarian School,” Georgi Marinov, head of the Gabrovo District, addressed the teachers.
Deputy Mayor of Gabrovo Nevena Mineva read a congratulatory address on behalf of Mayor Tanya Hristova. Regional Coordinator of SBU Reneta Koleva explained that this was the 26th edition of the National Competition and added that last year the awards were 17.
In the direction of “Preschool Education and Preparation,” nominees are the teachers Milena Ivanova – Senior Teacher in the DG “Ran Basil”, Petya Kosherska – A teacher in DG “First June” and Julia Nenova – st. a teacher at the Sun Kindergarten. Anelia Dimitrova – senior teacher at Ran Basilik Elementary School – Gabrovo, and Stefka Chernokozheva – head teacher at Hristo Botev Elementary School – Gabravo.
Penka Yoteva – Senior Teacher of Chemistry and Environmental Protection at St. Elementary School, was awarded in the direction of Natural Mathematical Sciences. s. Cyril, Methodius, and Monica Minkova, a Ran Basilik Elementary School – Gabrovo teacher, nominated for Art and Sports.
Three young teachers also received their nominations. These are Vasvie Adem – a computer science teacher at Ran Basilik Elementary School – Gabrovo, Marieta Borisova – a teacher at the Winnie the Pooh Kindergarten and Hristiana Dimitrova – an English teacher at NAG.
Evgenia Milcheva – speech therapist at the Regional Center for Support of the Process of Inclusive Education and Extracurricular Activities, School Psychologists and Pedagogical Advisors – Certificates and ribbons were received by Evgenia Milceva – Speech Therapist at the Regional Center of Support of Inclusive Education – Gabrovo and Tatiana Dimitrova – School Psychologist at the Akad. Ivan Guzelev”.
Directors and Deputy Directors from Gabrovo Municipality were also distinguished. Vera Hristova – Deputy Director of the National April High School; Darina Arsova – Director of Raycho Karolev Secondary School – Gabrovo, Snezhana Voycheva – Director of the DG Ran Basilik – Gabrovo and Sylvia Mitrofanova – Director of DG Teddy Bear the Pooh – Gabrovo.
