In only two days,  two occurrences of illegal immigration were recorded in different provinces around the country. Just yesterday, police in the vicinity of the Stara Zagora settlement of Rakitnitsa detained a group of illegal immigrants. During the incident, 12 Syrian immigrants travelling through a car with a Serbian registration were apprehended in Sofia.

The immigration problem is getting worse every day, creating concerns about the police and border security personnel. The Bulgarian government has implemented several measures to reduce the activities of illegal immigrants in the nation, but problems are worsening.

Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev publicly blamed corrupt police officers and other security personnel for the country’s ongoing growth in illegal immigrant activity. He pointed out that certain internal authorities help these human traffickers by facilitating the entry of illegal immigrants.

He emphasises that because Bulgaria is one of the nations with a high level of corruption, corrupt personnel are mostly to blame for the country’s poor reputation across the continent.

Increasing border security and surveillance in the areas near the borders are the only ways to stop illegal immigration. An increase in security measures is predicted to prevent illegal immigration, preserving peace and security across the nation.
