According to Rosen Hristov, the energy minister, the gas price could drop below BGN 166 in November and hold steady in December. While talking to the media, he explained that it is essential to dropping the concept of introducing two electricity rates for home consumers. Rosen Hristov claims that the vision was meant to serve as a conservative buffer in the event of a significant increase in the cost of energy carriers. However, the ministry didn’t expect the issue to get so controversial in entire Bulgaria.

Hristov said, “For now, there is no need for two prices simultaneously. Gas supplies have been stabilized for the moment as Chiren gas storage has reached the required capacity of 90%, set by the EU. If the problem persists, heating won’t get any more expensive, and it is also pointless to do so. have chosen not to introduce the idea since it is not urgent and was only meant to serve as a buffer for the price of gas. Since we are a technical government and dislike populist ideas, we have recognized that the problem is being monetized”.

He emphasizes, “We chose to keep Parliament with technical expertise rather than introducing the proposal because the subject has taken a definite political turn”.

Hristov also stressed that the diversification of nuclear fuel supplies should not be politicized anymore. He assured that nuclear fuel will be supplied after verification by independent international bodies. The Department of Energy declared early this morning that it is dropping the plan to implement dual electricity tariffs since it is unnecessary given the dependability of our electrical system and the decreased gas prices.

The contract for supplying and processing nuclear fuel for the Kozloduy NPP will feature at least two businesses. Discussions have already taken place with “Westinghouse,” and “Framatom” of France is also involved in the process. The energy minister stated that neither company is dependent on Russian supplies and refuted reports that the caretaker administration is looking to Russia to diversify its nuclear fuel sources.
