The unified information portal shares the COVID-19 update report of Bulgaria, according to which the Balkan state recorded a total of 359 new cases of the novel coronavirus as of May 12, 2022. Of these additional infections, 66.85% belonged to the category of unvaccinated individuals.
These fresh COVID-19 cases were recorded from the new 6,502 tests conducted by the healthcare facilities of the European nation. The positivity rate of the fresh novel coronavirus infections stands at 5.5%.
With this, the active count of the active cases in Bulgaria has increased to 124,042, and of the confirmed cases to 1,160,706, since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, a total of twelve (12) patients with COVID mutant lost their lives to the contagious virus, bringing the overall death rate of the state to 37,019, as per data published in the portal. A total of 4,626 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours in Bulgaria and were discharged from the hospital facilities.
This takes the total count of the COVID-19 related recoveries in Bulgaria to 999,645 during the previous day.
For the present time, there are a total of 629 COVID patients in the hospital facilities, of which 67 are in intensive care units – ICU. During the past 24 hours, at least 68 patients who contracted the virus were admitted to the hospital facilities, of which 76.47% were not vaccinated.
As of May 11, 2022, there are a total of 2,057,359 individuals who have taken their required number of COVID-19 jabs and are now fully vaccinated, representing nearly 29.7% of the total targeted eligible population.
On the other hand, there are a total of 751,445 Bulgarian nationals who are fully vaccinated and have also taken their booster shots or third dose of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines. This number of individuals represents nearly 10.85 of the total targeted eligible Bulgarian population.
