The European country has recorded a total of additional 624 cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, as per the data shared in the unified information portal. These fresh COVID infections have been detected in the 9039 tests conducted during the last 24 hours.
The positivity rate of the additional COVID-19 tests stands at 6.9%. Nearly 66.51% of the newly detected cases belonged to the category of unvaccinated individuals.
With this, the total count of active COVID-19 infections in the European country has hiked to 131,105. Meanwhile, Bulgaria recorded a total of 1,159,925 COVID-19 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
A total of twenty-one (21) COVID patients lost their lives to the deadliest mutant during the past day, of which around 95.24% were not vaccinated against the virus. This takes the overall count of death rate to 36,994.
There are 2454 patients who recovered from the contagious virus in the last 24 hours and got discharged from the hospital facilities. Additional 893 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines were administered on May 9, 2022.
For the present time, there are a total of 715 individuals who are in hospital facilities in Bulgaria, including the recently admitted 138 patients. In intensive care units – ICU, there are a total of 73 patients, the portal’s data further reveals.
As of May 9, 2022, there are a total of 2,056,923 individuals who have received their required number of COVID-19 vaccines and are now fully vaccinated against the deadliest mutant. This number of individuals is representing around 29.7% of the total targeted eligible population.
On the other hand, there are a total of 749,944 individuals who are fully vaccinated and have also taken their third dose, that is booster shots of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines, representing around 10.8% of the total targeted eligible population of Bulgaria, the official data further adds.
