Sofia, Bulgaria: In Bulgaria, additional 1143 cases of the novel coronavirus have been recorded in the last 24 hours, as of April 1, 2022, according to the data shared in the unified information portal. This takes the total number of the COVID-19 active infections in Bulgaria to 179,885.
A total of 14,092 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours, of which these new cases were tested positive. The positivity rate of these fresh COVID-19 infections stands at 8%, the data of the portal further adds.
Nearly 66.67% of the new cases of the COVID-19 virus were among the unvaccinated.
There are a total of 5133 patients of the novel coronavirus who have been recovered from the contagious mutant in the past 24 hours.
Along with this, a total of seventeen (17) COVID-19 patients lost their lives to the contagious viral disease in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall number of death rate in Bulgaria to 36,529.
Meanwhile, the official data adds that since the beginning of the pandemic in the European country, it has recorded a total of 1,138,923 confirmed infections of the virus.
With this, additional 1698 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines were also administered in the last 24 hours, as of April 1, 2022.
In the European country, there are a total of 2,050,547 citizens who have taken their required number of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines to date and are in the category of fully vaccinated nationals. This number of individuals is representing nearly 29.6% of the total targeted population.
On the other hand, there are a total of 723,465 individuals who are fully inoculated and have also received their booster shots (third dose) of the COVID-19 vaccines. This number of Bulgarian citizens accounts for around 10.4% of its total targeted eligible population.
Additionally, the COVID-19 protocols such as -wearing masks, social distance, and others have been abolished by the Bulgarian government from April 1, 2022.
