Notably, State Senator Greg Rothman and Senator Nikil Saval presented the bill in the Senate. Additionally, Senator Saval thanked Senator Rothman for allowing him to co-introduce the measure with him.

In addition, Senator Greg Rothman noted that the decision to recognise Diwali as a national holiday is a significant catalyst for the cultural diversity of South Asians in Pennsylvania because thousands of Pennsylvanians celebrate it each year, including many residents of the 34th Senatorial District.

It is noteworthy because Pennsylvania is home to nearly 200,000 South Asians who participate in the Diwali holiday.

The Commonwealth Community celebrates the festival of lights at temples, other houses of worship, and community centres, according to Senator Saval. The Diwali Festival is very important because it symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and makes life’s purpose clear. The celebration must therefore be acknowledged.

Notably, the festival of Diwali takes place on a different day each year; this year, the date is November 12. Senate Bill 402 does not mandate that any offices or schools be closed, according to My Twin Tiers.
