Castries, Saint Lucia: On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, Ernest Hilaire, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism of Saint Lucia, gave brief information about the participation drive at the Babonneau Secondary School, specifically organised by the Tourism Ministry of Saint Lucia.

The primary objective of launching this participation is to prepare the Junior Minister of Tourism and National Tourism Public Speaking Competition.

Minister Hilaire also posted an update related to the recruitment of a Junior Minister on his Facebook page, stating that the government of Saint Lucia has taken another step towards empowering the nation’s youth.

He said, “Today, the Ministry of Tourism held a participation drive with the students of the Babonneau Secondary School in preparation for the Junior Minister of Tourism and National Tourism Public Speaking competition.”

According to Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire, the youth is essential for every country’s development and must be given the best direction when they are young.

He continued by saying that the Saint Lucian administration will always seek to improve youth by providing proper guidance and organising various programmes to deliver them more influence.

He also discusses the youth’s importance in being involved in national decision-making. Minister Hilaire said, “The youth are an essential part of our growth. It is essential to include them at all levels. These programmes will assist in shaping and educating our young people to become the leaders of today and tomorrow”.

The Saint Lucian government recently established the Young Economy Agency and awarded grants to eleven young entrepreneurs. According to Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre, the government will always provide new businesses full assistance to ensure their growth in the years of beginning.

“We’ll continue to provide our youth with numerous opportunities and facilities they need to grow their businesses and contribute to society on a global scale.
