The Indian government released a plan for the most significant food grain storage facility in the world. The cooperative societies sector will run the programme.

The development of the agriculture sector is a top priority for the Indian government. They stated that they intend to establish 1100 new Farmer Producer Organisations in addition to the foodgrain storage strategy.

The projects mentioned earlier are just two of the many actions the government has taken to improve the agriculture industry. The Indian government also hopes to raise farmers’ incomes through these programmes.

The government has also stated they will contribute one lakh crore to this project. The government would reportedly build a godown with a 2,000-ton capacity in each block.

They will establish an inter-ministerial committee for this. According to Union Minister Anurag Thakur, this programme is part of the government’s strategy to increase storage capacity.

He thinks this approach will increase the country’s cooperative sector’s capacity. The plan aims to improve the nation’s capacity to store food grains by 700 lakh tonnes.

The food grain store now has a storage capacity of 1,450 lakh tonnes. As a result of the cooperative sector’s initiative, this capacity will rise by 2,150 lakh tonnes.

A lack of storage space frequently causes damage to the food grains. As a result, this action intends to decrease farmer distress sales. The programme will lessen the markets’ reliance on food grain imports. Additionally, it will increase employment possibilities in rural India.

The programme will increase the nation’s level of food security. The farmers will benefit from higher prices for their goods. The country’s agriculture industry has to be developed and improved, and the government is dedicated to this cause.
