Sofia, Bulgaria: The traditional solemn procession organized in the capital on the occasion of the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture, and Slavic literature – May 24, departed from the Ministry of Education and Science, near the Archaeological Museum, to reach the Monument of the Holy Brothers before The National Library “St. H. E. S. Cyril and Methodius”, where the official ceremony began.

The festive procession was attended by President Rumen Radev, Vice President Iliana Yotova, Official Prime Minister Galab Donev, Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov, Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova, many politicians, the public and citizens.

In front of the National Library, President Radev greeted: “For the first time, I see so many people who came out to honour the holiday. I am convinced that the spiritual uprising that floods Bulgarian streets and squares today is the pledge that we will overcome any trial; Bulgaria will be united, even more, robust and spiritually rich! “.

The touching “I am Bulgarian” was performed by first-graders. And the university anthem, “Go, People Reborn”, was played by Lyubomir Pipkov National Music School students. The ceremony ended with a Guard Brass Band performing the Bulgarian National Anthem.

Cultural Minister Nayden Todorov remarks that May 24 is the day of Bulgarian Literacy, Spirituality and Culture. He noted that the Bulgarian alphabet is not an alphabet in the general sense but a message. He wished a happy holiday to Bulgarian citizens.

Minister Todorov added, “Remember the letters; learn to speak! It’s good to live soundly on Earth! Because, as you people think, He is our support. Speak on the word firmly! Up everyone to fly! Go!
