Sofia, Bulgaria: There has been a downward trend in the recording of COVID-19 cases in the European country. During the time frame last 24 hours, Bulgaria recorded a total of additional 121 cases of the novel coronavirus. The information has been shared in the unified information portal on Sunday, June 19. 

These new cases have been detected from the additional 1425 tests conducted by the healthcare facilities at the testing centres in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the positivity rate of the new cases remains at 8.5%.

Along with this, only one death of a COVID-19 patient was recorded in Bulgaria, according to the data of the portal, while a total of sixteen (16) people got themselves recovered from the virus and have been discharged from the hospital facilities. 

At the current time, there are a total of 248 COVID patients who are in the hospital facilities of Bulgaria, including the recently admitted patients. There are a total of twenty-seven (27) patients in intensive care units – ICU, as per the information shared in the unified portal. 

Additional nineteen (19) doses of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines have also been administered in the Balkan state during the last 24 hours.

In Bulgaria, till June 18, 2022, there are a total of 2,060,931 individuals who have received their required number of COVID-19 vaccine doses, which have been given approval by the World Health Organisation (WHO). These Bulgarians are now in the category of fully immunized individuals against the deadliest COVID-19 viral illness. 

This number of individuals accounts for around 29.8% of the total targeted eligible population of Bulgaria, the official data adds. The country needs to buckle up the vaccination drive so that more of its population is secured by being fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 mutant.
