SOFIA, Bulgaria – Renowned Hollywood director Martin Campbell, best known for iconic action blockbusters like GoldenEye, Casino Royale, and The Mask of Zorro, is set to attend this year’s Aniventure Comic Con in Sofia as a special guest.
The acclaimed filmmaker will meet fans on July 5 at the Inter Expo Center during a dedicated session in Hall 4, where he will reflect on his work directing major Hollywood films, including The Green Lantern and two James Bond reboots.
Campbell’s appearance highlights the 2025 edition of Bulgaria’s largest pop culture festival, which will take place over two days, July 5 and 6. Organizers promise an expansive program featuring international and local stars from the worlds of film, comics, gaming, animation, and street art.
The festival’s cinema and comic panels will include a special July 6 session in Hall 4 with prominent Bulgarian comic creators Neda Malcheva, Martin Petrov (known by his pen name Tony the Duck), and Sten Damyanov, also known as Just Spas or Shisho from Thrace.
The trio will discuss the evolution of Bulgaria’s comic book scene and showcase new work, including Carnival in Lyulin, the latest installment of the popular Tony Pateto series, and Damyanov’s new project, Epic of Shishman Thracian – Calamity.
Street art enthusiasts can look forward to the return of the Sprite Graffiti Zone, a crowd-favorite attraction that brings together top graffiti artists from across Europe.
This year’s featured talents include Germany’s Hombre SUK, Italy’s BRUS, Bulgarian muralist Glow, and the internationally known duo Arsek & Erase. Kotk, a noted wildstyle graffiti artist and tattooist, will also take part.
The zone will feature live demonstrations and an open graffiti workshop on both days, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., allowing visitors to design their own custom spray cans under expert supervision.
Animation will also take center stage, with Studio Zmei — the creators of The Golden Apple — presenting two upcoming productions: Mila and Marko and Underworld and Cats, an international release slated for 2026.
The studio will host a presentation on July 6 in Hall 4, offering a behind-the-scenes look at their creative process and vision for elevating Bulgarian animation on the global stage.
Gamers and sports fans will converge in Hall 3’s Evnia zone, where one of Bulgaria’s top EA FC streamers, WickyBG, will host a special challenge. The tournament will culminate on July 6 when the overall winner competes live against WickyBG.
