Dominica: Minister for Housing and Urban Development – Melissa Poponne Skerrit has announced the Mother’s Day Sunset BBQ and Bingo. The minister has cordially invited all the mothers of Roseau Central to event on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at City Breeze Apartments around 6:00 p.m.
The event is being organised to celebrate the Mother’s Day and pay a heartful gratitude to them for the sacrifices they have made and for their support and love that has always been with their children.
While inviting the mothers of Roseau Central to Sunset BBQ and Bingo, Minister Melissa Skerrit said that the mothers are irreplaceable and it has always been an honour and pleasure to celebrate them. As there is no love like mother’s love and for the same to pay gratitude an evening is arranged to celebrate the Mother’s Day.
At the event, the visitors can also win prizes by participating in the fun activities. The ladies present there will be entertained with the music performances by DJ Shil.
During the ongoing event, mother’s present at the City Breeze Apartments will also get to taste the delicious BBQ cuisines and dishes whilst enjoying the entertaining performances.
Dominica keeps on celebrating women and their achievements. Earlier, in April 2024 the housing minister hosted Women’s Symposium on Saturday, April 20, 2024 with an objective of empowering women in the country.
Women’s Symposium was conducted under the theme of ‘Find Your Peace and Purpose’ at the Fort Youngs Hotel, in Dominica.
Mother’s Day is a special day which is celebrated to honour the motherhood as well as the mothers of the family or an individual. The day is commemorated to celebrate the maternal bonds and the influence or impact of the mothers in society.
The day is celebrated on different days in many parts of the world and most commonly in the month of March or May.
Melissa Poponne Skerrit is a Dominican politician in the Dominica Labour Party. She has been a member of the House of Assembly for the Rosseau Central constituency, since the 2019 general elections.
